The VMAA Music Library

The Vermont Music and Arts Association has a fairly extensive music library for use by participants, VP1.gif (50134 bytes)but you may want to bring some from your own collection. To help you decide what to bring, you may consult the library catalogue on line.

You may view the catalogue of performance parts in the VMAA music library in an alphabetical list of titles by composer, or in a list by genre (string quartet, woodwind quintet, piano trio, vocal duet, etc.)

The alphabetical listing by composer is self-explanatory.

The list by genre is sorted by the library call number, the first letter of which is

The two or three digits following the intial E or P for the instrumental works are

Third:

1 = strings only, 3 = winds and strings, 5 = winds only
a code for the specific instrumentation

The two digits following the intial V for the vocal works are

First:
Second:

the number of vocal parts
0 = unaccompanied voice(s)
2 = with piano
4 = with instrument(s) other than piano
6 = with piano and other instrument(s)

For example, string quartets (E412) sort before wind quintets (E532) and violin sonatas (P211), and all vocal works sort after instrumental works.
